I'm trying out video announcements for our church this week. The goal is to get our announcement time down to 1min. We're going to start simple, M.B.P. webcam at Starbucks and a videohive news buffer. At the very least I'll get 30mins of coffee time. I'll post the video here when it is finished. If any of you have suggestions on gear or work-flow for what will essentially become a video blog of sorts, let me know. -Aaron
OK... so instead of posting the Starbucks announcement video here, I took some time to make a Vimeo account for First Free Rockford, and will post future announcements there. Take a look.

Been a while
It's been a while since I have put anything up here, so I thought I'd post this video. I'm trying to be more judicious about separating work time from personal time. Hopefully that means I'll be able to post more frequently. As most of you know I've been playing drums for Emily Hurd when in the Rockford area over the last year. Emily Hurd's new album "Daytime Fireflies" is just about ready for mastering and should be released sometime in April, at which point there will be a CD release show. I'll be sure to post all the details here. That's all for now.

Dancing Baby
I was changing my son's diaper today while the camera was in arms reach and I couldn't resist posting a short clip. I hope you laugh as much as I did.

New Soup
I really enjoyed my overnight in Chicago playing at New Soup recently. I was reminded how refreshing it is to work and re-work a raw song and turn it into something with movement and texture. I had a blast brainstorming with Emily and really enjoyed John Abbey's critical ears. The man knows how to mic a drum set. On another note... even though we were temporarily locked out of an apartment and temporarily under the impression that Emily's purse had been stolen, the overnight was a total success and most importantly I got to eat good Mexican food!

Recording Blues
I recently did some recording and learned a valuable lesson... If you want something done right you better do it yourself! After 4 hours of tracking drums, bass, piano, and a string quartet, I took the time to investigate the audio engineer's gear only to find out he mixed everything down (live) to a stereo mix. No multi-tracking... WHAT!? Exsqueeze me? Post production much? Looks like we'll chalk this one up as a do-over.
